KUCHING: A man from Kampung Haji Baki at Batu Kitang Road was yesterday sentenced to a fine of RM1,000 in default of six months’ imprisonment for losing his shotgun in August this year.
Magistrate Maris Agan passed down the sentence on Mohd Nazeri Abdullah who lost his Stevens No JX8 shotgun which according to the facts of case, was inherited from his father.
Mohd Nazeri made a police report on Aug 18 after finding out his shotgun was missing.
According to the facts of case, he stated that the gun was kept inside a white sack and kept under his bed in his bedroom for the past 20 years.
He last checked his shotgun on Aug 9.
He had tried to relocate the shotgun but failed.
Investigation revealed that the accused failed to take precaution towards his property and as such, he had committed an offence under Section 35 of the Firearms Act 1960 (Act 206).
