Suspect who rammed police remanded four days

KUALA LUMPUR: A suspect who rammed a police patrol car and policeman who tried to stop him at the Shah Alam Highway exit from Puchong to Subang Jaya near here early Saturday would be remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.

The suspect, in his 20s, was remanded from Saturday under Section 307 of the Penal Code for trying to attack police, Section 324 for deliberately causing hurt using weapon or dangerous object and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.

Serdang deputy police chief Supt Lam Chien Fei said the suspect who was injured on his arm and right chest was now being treated at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

“We detained him to facilitate investigations on several criminal cases around the Klang Valley,” he told Bernama when contacted, here, yesterday.

During the 2am incident Saturday, the suspect tried to escape in a car after he was stopped by policemen, in two patrol cars and on two motorcycles, for inspection.

The suspect rammed a patrol car and a policeman on motorcycle and made off with police in hot pursuit.

Police unleashed eight shots during the pursuit with four hitting the suspect’s arm and ribs and four hitting the car. — Bernama
