Zamri earns PGM Tour card

KUCHING: After a few attempts at qualifying, Mohd Zamri Rejab was ecstatic to have finally made the grade to earn his PGM Tour card at the PGM Q-School at Harvard Golf and Country Club near here Sungai Petani, Kedah over the last weekend with a final day score of two-over 74 and one-over 217 total.

To earn the card players are required to shoot not more than 15-over 231 after three rounds.

This Q-card is good for one year on the PGM Tour.

“I am so glad I finally did it,” said the 39-year-old Mohd Zamri who turned professional in 2005 and is now a teaching professional at the Cinta Sayang Golf and Country Club.

“I did go for pre-Q at PGM Clearwater, made the half-way and finished in top 30,” he added.

Mohd Zamri received RM2,000 as the top finisher, followed by Mohd Shukri Awang who earned RM1,500 at second place and Cash Lee and Shahizul Ahmad who each earned RM875 and Zaizuri Omar RM500 who was fifth.

Cash Lee is also a teaching pro in Pulau Pinang.

Mohd Shukri Awang, 41, is from Terengganu and a course supervisor at Penang Golf Resort.

A very happy face is youngster Keegan Kam who is a regular player on the PGM Tour by way of pre-Q but an automatic entry into ADT events by virtue of his attendance at the 2012 Asian Tour Q-School.

“Now I don’t have to worry about pre-Q for PGM TOUR events anymore,” said Kam.

Two amateurs who made the grade were Nazarudin Talib and Mior Asyraf Haziq.
