EXPECTED TO COMPETE: Highly rated Kuching ‘A’ and ‘B’ under 12 and under 15 are expected to compete in the upcoming Arena Sukan’s junior futsal to be held from Nov 24 to Dec 15.
KUCHING: The 5th Arena Sukan junior futsal tournament to be held at Arena Sukan sports complex of Jalan Wan Alwi from Nov 24 to Dec 15 is now open for entries.
The event is divided into three categories namely for under 12, under 15 and under 17. All matches will start at 8am.
According to Arena Sukan’s general manager, Mary Chan the tournament has been held the past four years and it had seen an increasing number of youths aged 10 to 17 years old taking part in the exciting event.
“In last year’s competition more than 100 teams took part and this year, we are expecting keener interest and greater participation,” she said.
She added the tournament is part of Arena Sukan’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) which is not so much on generating profits but to promote futsal as a healthy recreation activity especially among the youths.
Each of the participating teams will comprise seven players and they will receive a specially designed, limited edition Junior Futsal Tournament 2012 tee-shirts as well as other attractive free gifts upon registration.
The champion in the under 12 category will receive RM2,000 and medals while the winners in the under 15 and under 17 categories will receive RM2,800 each.
The entry fee for under 12 category is only RM200 per team, for the under 15 and under 17 is RM250. Registration for all categories is open daily at Arena Sukan Sports Complex from 9am until midnight.
Other exciting sideline events will be the Fun Kick competition where participants are required to score through a mini goal post.
