Programme offers folk health checks

KAPIT: The Urban and Rural Health Services Programme at Harmony Mall here concluded successfully yesterday.

It was jointly organised by Lions Club of Kapit, Gnosis Laboratories Sdn Bhd, National Population and Family Development Board and SK Nanga Bena.

The campaign aims to create awareness on health issues especially body mass index (BMI), hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes, and cancer screening.

A huge crowd turned up early in the morning for free basic blood tests.

Lions Club of Kapit secretary Dr Sia TiH Kong said LPPKN conducted breast examinations, pap smears and cervical cancer vaccinations for women aged 19 and above.

He advised those who wished to have more accurate results to fast overnight.

Gnosis also offered more comprehensive blood screening at RM80.
