SIBU: The participants of the Action Research Seminar have been urged to fully apply the knowledge gained in their daily teaching life.

Teachers’ Education Institute Rajang Campus director Raymond Gai Panting said by applying the knowledge and experience gained into their teaching routine they would help to produce quality students.

He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the seminar for some 128 participants from throughout Sarawak.

The seminar was organised by the Teachers’ Education Institute Rajang Campus in Bintangor near here.

Raymond added the rational to involve the teachers as a researcher was to encourage them to further expand their skill by carrying out research on how effective was their own teaching in class and on how best they could improve in terms of team work between teachers and students.

He said the action research seminar aimed to produce teachers with researching culture in mind who emphasised on delivering quality teaching to their students.

“The seminar serves as a platform for the participants to gain knowledge and experience on how to handle action research seminar.”

“It can also be regarded a form of added value to their co-curriculum activities on the campus,” he added.

Raymond hoped that the precious experience they had gained through the seminar would instill an interest in them to practise the researching culture.

He added their experience will also serve as an important guideline for them to manage and handle any such seminar once they were posted to their respective schools.

“Even though we have advanced teaching technological tools, it still cannot fully replace teachers,” he said.

Therefore teachers still play a very important role in our teaching system, he emphasised.
