KAPIT: More than 40 Sunday school students, comprising secondary school students and adults, received their Sacrament of Confirmation at a Holy Mass at the Church of Immaculate Conception here on Sunday.

Conducting the Confirmation cum Sunday Mass was Rt Rev Bishop Joseph Hii. In his message to the congregation, the bishop called on the Catholic devotees here to reach out to other people.

“This year is a year to strengthen our faith and thus it warrants the devotees to spread the good news and reach out to other people. The Ibans are famous for their ‘bejalai’ and while you are doing that you must also bring your faith to your workplace and everywhere you go.

“As you travel to other places of the world to work, you must bring your faith with you so that you can spread the good news and evangelise to other people in your workplace” said Bishop Hii, who was happy to note that several Filipinos were present at the mass, which showed that they had brought along their faith here when carrying out their work.

The mass was co-celebrated by Fr David Ho and Bro George Omuto from Kenya, and attended by catechists Kenneth Kanyan and Edward Antas, Parish Council chairman Lawrence Jarau, Marian Guild chairperson Helen Tanjong and some 800 devotees.

Later in the evening, Bishop Hii was feted to a potluck gathering that was hosted by the church’s Cell Group members at the church lobby.
