KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia is confident of double-digit growth in the sales of its motorcycles next year.

Managing director of BMW Group Malaysia, Dr Gerhard Pils, said as of September this year, 255 motorcycles were sold, a 23 per cent growth from 2011.

BMW Group Malaysia yesterday introduced its all-new BMW C 600 Sport and BMW C 650 GT Maxi Scooter with an on-the-road retail price of RM65,000 and RM68,800 respectively, without insurance.

“The introduction of the new BMW scooters would be a positive boost to BMW Group Malaysia which has continued to see remarkable growth in 2012 with a total of 5014 BMW, MINI and BMW motorcycles delivered throughout the country as of September 2012, an increase of sales by 14 per cent compared to the same period in 2011,” Dr Gerhard said during the launch of the scooters.

It was reported that 2011 was a record breaking year in terms of sales for BMW Group Malaysia with Malaysia as the group’s fastest growing market.

In terms of the percentage of financial failures or bankruptcy due to loans taken for BMW premium cars, he said the number was very small with customers usually pre-examined for their financial standing. — Bernama
