SANDAKAN: A homemade gun was seized by the Marine Operation Force (MOF) here on Monday.
MOF Region 4 Sabah commander ACP Abdul Manaf Othman said acting on information, a MOF officer and six personnel went to Kampung Tanjung Batu Laut around 4.05pm.
Upon reaching the village, they inspected an unnumbered house owned by a 60-year-old man and found the homemade gun that was hidden on the roof of the store.
The suspect and his homemade gun were brought to the MOF base for further investigation. He was released on Tuesday.
The case is investigated under Section 8 (a) of the Firearms Acts 1960 which carries up to seven years of imprisonment and a fine of RM10,000, or both, upon conviction.
