JOHOR BAHARU: Two Bulgarian men were sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court here yesterday after being found guilty of trafficking in methamphetamine.

Ivan Kirov Kostov, 27, committed the offence involving 1,945.6gm and Georgi Dinev Bakalov, 26, involving 2,176.85gm, at the bus stop at the Sultan Ismail International Airport in Senai here around 4.15pm on May 18, 2011.

In meting out the punishment, Justice Datuk Abdul Halim Aman held that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Azreen Yas Mohamad Ramli prosecuted while counsel Pritam Singh Doal represented the duo. — Bernama
