UNISSA holds Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Selamat ceremony

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN:As part of the religious activities in conjunction with the 2″d Mahrajan Hafl Al- Takharruj, or better known as the 2″d Convocation of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) which was launched by rince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Borneo Bulletin reported.

A Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Selamat ceremony was held at the Sultan SharifAli Mosque in Sengkurong last night. A total of 102 graduates also received certificates during the ceremony.

Various activities and programmes in the form of religion, academic issues and information have been arranged to commemorate another milestone in the UNISSA community.

The Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Selamat for the graduates was one of the events aimed towards highlighting the essence of the 2nd Mahrajan Hall Al-Takharruj event for UNISSA. It is also hoped that the event will become an annual tradition in further commemorating the Hafl Al-Takharruj.

The guest of honour at the event last night was the Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

As initial preparations towards reaching this direction, in the efforts to ensure that graduates maintain high and excellent quality in reading, UNISSA through the Religious and Takmir Surau Unit, Students Affairs Section has organised a programme called Halaqah Khatam Al-Quran. It is a programme where individuals read the Al-Quran as a group until they complete 30 juzuk.

Dr Hj Serbini bin Hj Matahir, the Rector of UNISSA, meanwhile, said that efforts to elevate the Al-Quran through a system in the correct use of tajwid reading is only the initial steps to realise their vision.
