KUCHING: Taiwanese pair Huang En-Pei and Ma Yi-Chi won the girls doubles crown after beating the Kazakhstan doubles combination of Alexandra Grinchishina and Anatasiya Yepisheva in straight sets in the final played at Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association tennis centre late Saturday night.

Although smaller in stature, the fourth seeds triumphed over the eighth seeds 6-3, 7-5 with their patience, speed, good strategies and net play to force their opponents to make unforced errors.

This is the second time in two weeks that Huang-Ma has beaten the Kazakhstan pair.

They also beat Alexandra-Anatasiya in the girls doubles final at the ITF Juniors Ipoh in Perak a week earlier.

The boys doubles was won by the combined pair of Djurabeck Karimov from Uzbekistan and Gregor Schoefberger after Naoki Nakagawa of Japan and Callum Poland-Smith retired in the second set.

Karimov-Schoefberger won the first set 7-5 and Poland-Smith and Nakagawa were leading 2-0 in the second set when Poland-Smith could not continue the match as he was suffering from a heat stroke.
