PBS Wanita chief Jamilah takes oath as senator

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Wanita chief Datuk Jamilah alias Halimah Sulaiman was sworn in today for a three-year term as a senator at the Dewan Negara.

Jamilah, 56, took her oath before Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, witnessed by other members of the senate.

She holds a diploma in Secretarial Science from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kota Kinabalu branch, and has been PBS Wanita chief from 2000.

She has held various positions in her party, including as Wanita vice-chief (1986-1992), supreme council member (1992-1994) and vice president (1994-2000).

Jamilah is also involved in non-governmental organisations and is the secretary of the Sabah Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak), and life member of the Sabah Children’s Welfare Association as well as the Sabah Cancer Association. – Bernama
