‘Datuk’ politician loses RM32,000, 82 bullets to burglary

KOTA KINABALU: A politician with the title “Datuk” lost RM32,000 worth of cash and valuables as well as 82 bullets when his double-storey house at Taman Fulliwa in Tebobon, Menggatal was burgled on Wednesday.

The victim, in his 40s, only realised the incident after returning home around 11pm on November 7, said city police chief Assistant Commissioner Jauteh Dikun.

“Among the items reported missing were RM5,000 cash, a cellphone, a laptop, a watch, some jewellery and 82 bullets of a 0.38 pistol,” he told at a press conference at the city police headquarters in Karamunsing here yesterday.

Based on initial police investigation, Jauteh believed the burglary took place between 10.30am and 11pm on Wednesday when the victim and his family were not at home.

“Police believe more than one person was involved in the burglary.

“Investigation at the scene also revealed the suspects had entered the double-storey house through the kitchen door,” he said.

Police are still investigating the case under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.
