KOTA BAHARU: Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the top party leadership is now in the final stages of identifying constituencies for party candidates for the 13th general election.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, said the top leadership was presently scrutinising the inputs provided by the divisions as well as information received from other sources.

As such, all members of the party machinery must be fully ready in all aspects to face the general election, he said at a gathering with the Deputy Prime Minister at the Yayasan Kemiskinan Kelantan Complex, here yesterday.

“We are facing the general election at any time now, maybe a few more days, or a few more weeks,” he said.

He said everyone at all levels must fully accept the candidates to be decided by the top party leadership later.

Muhyiddin said what was important was that everyone, particularly the election machinery and the grassroots leadership, worked hard in the efforts to defend the BN government leadership.

He said everyone must put aside whatever differences they had because the BN would be facing a ‘huge enemy’ in the looming general election.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the party machinery must also focus on the young voters because many of
them, who would be voting for the first time, lacked information on the history of the BN struggles for the nation.

He said the rakyat, particularly the young generation, must be given an explanation on what the BN government had done all this time in turning Malaysia into a peaceful and prosperous nation. — Bernama
