SANDAKAN: Gum-Gum assemblyman Datuk Haji Zakaria Mohd Edris has urged the Sandakan Municipal Council to maintain the cleanliness of the People Housing Project (PPR) at Gum-Gum Jaya, Mile 16.
He said garbage was scattered around, the grass was not cut, the drains clogged and there were potholes on the road to the newly built housing estate.
Even though only 220 of the 500 houses are occupied, he said the council should carry out regular cleaning and maintenance to prevent outbreak of diseases such as dengue.
“The cleanliness of PPR Gum-Gum Jaya should be addressed immediately and the residents should also share the responsibility by keeping the area clean,” he told reporters.
Zakaria added PPR Gum-Gum Jaya would be fully occupied by the end of this year.
