SANDAKAN: The Home Ministry (KDN) is monitoring online gambling activities in Sabah and Sarawak.

Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the police are taking measures to check the spread of online gambling activities.

“I have told the Inspector General of Police that the situation can’t be allowed to worsen. The Sabah and

Sarawak Commissioners of Police have also been informed.

“Don’t ever think that we are unaware of the existence of two to three new cyber gaming centres,” he told reporters after opening ‘Program Rela Sabah Bersama Pemimpin’ here yesterday.

Hishammuddin said the activities could be used by syndicates to entrap young people into a world of crime.

In a effort to deal with international syndicates, KDN has forged bilateral ties with intelligence agencies from Australia, United Kingdom, United States and China.

“The collaboration is not only to address syndicates operating in our country but also those in the region and internationally.

“If this is not done, the gambling premises raided today will operate again  tomorrow,” he added. — Bernama
