Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Labuan chief Captain Wan Mat Wan Abdullah said five persons were involved in the incident.

“MMEA Labuan received information from the Lawas police headquarters on Monday at about 9.30am.

“The incident occurred at 10pm on Sunday where three of the five crew members had gone missing, while the other two were saved,” he said.

Wan Mat said they activated their search and rescue operation led by Lieutenant maritime commander Noor Azmi Mohd Dahan.

“At 9.20am today (yesterday), MMEA received a call from Labuan Port Control where a body was found by Sabah Ports and Harbour Department personnel off Papan Island waters.

“Then at 10.20am, the other two bodies were found floating at the Labuan Petronas Chemicals Methanol jetty.

“All the three bodies were brought to the MMEA jetty and were later sent to Labuan Hospital by the Public Defence Department,” he said.
