MARUDI: The flood situation in Malay villages and some parts of several low-lying areas here remain unchanged yesterday from the previous day but the water level in Long Lama has increased due to heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of Baram River the past several days.
The worst affected area here were Kanpung Narum and Kampung Dagang where 180 and 59 houses respectively were inundated with half a foot of water, said TK Dollah Paie when met at his flooded house.
Also affected were Kampung Ridan and Kampung Baru next to Kampung Narum.
Meanwhile, the flood seemed to bring good news to local fishermen. They said they now could catch plenty of ‘Ikan Baong’, ‘Ikan Bawan and ‘Ikan Keli’ which they sell at the local market.
