KUCHING: Pahang Open men’s singles champion, Misbun Ramdan Mohmed Misbun crashed out of the ongoing Maybank Malaysia International Challenge being held at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Sports Complex Badminton Hall as other top seeds advanced into the last 16 yesterday.

Ramdan, the tournament’s fifth seed, was simply not in his element and was upset by fellow national back-up shuttler and training mate Goh Giap Chin in straight sets of 21-10, 21-17 in 24 minutes.

Goh from Pulau Pinang was delighted with the victory and said he was confident of beating Ramdan.

“We have trained together and I know the way he plays. I went all out today to beat him for the second time after defeating him in the last 16 at Sukma XV in Pahang in July,” he said after the match.

For the record, in the four meetings between the duo, both have won twice and lost twice.

“I was playing my best game and I wasn’t playing under any pressure.
