No political motive – police

KOTA KINABALU: The police have strongly denied any political ploy involved in the abduction of two Malaysians by a group of armed men at a bird’s nest house inside an oil palm plantation at Timbun Mata, Kampung Manakayang in Lahad Datu on Wednesday evening.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said he did not see any reason for such claims to be made.

“As far as the police are concerned, the case involved a criminal offence, abduction, and what reason does it involve any political motive?” he asked yesterday.

Hamza was asked to comment on a Facebook posting implying that the abduction of the two Malaysian men had political elements.

The abduction happened on November 14 inside a plantation at Timbun Mata, Kampung Manakayang in Lahad Datu between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

The police are still carrying out investigation as well as the motive behind the abduction of the bird’s nest manager and his assistant.
