LAHAD DATU: Police believed that they have solved a murder case within 24 hours with the arrest of a 35-year-old Indonesian at Ladang Matamba Jalan Silabukan.

District police chief Superintendent Shamsudin Mat said the 37-year-old victim who died at the scene, was identified as Amirudin Bin Raside, due to stab wounds.

The victim’s three friends, Udin Bin Hanung 35, Iwan Bin Kadir 29, and Saripudin Bin Palkasih, 40, were also stabbed by the suspect and received treatment at the district hospital.

“Initial police investigation revealed that the four victims went to the suspect’s house around 10am for gambling. After half an hour, the four victims accused the suspect of cheating them.

“An argument broke out and the suspect took a 20-inch Bugis knife from his room and stabbed the four of them. Udin, Iwan and Saripudin managed to flee from the scene while Amirudin fell and died on the spot,” said Shamsudin at a press conference yesterday.

He said after receiving information of the case, a team of Crime Investigation Department (CID) led by Inspector Josepine Ak Seliman arrested the suspect inside an unnumbered house not far from the murder scene.

Shamsudin added the three victims at the hospital were reported in stable condition and the suspect was now in the police custody and remanded under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
