Jailed for criminal trespassing at house

KUCHING: A man was sentenced to three months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing at a house at Taman Matang Jaya here last week.

Magistrate Maris Agan convicted Mohd Azlan Huseini, 22, who admitted to committing the offence with a juvenile at 11.45am on Nov 16.

The court released the other accused, a 15-year-old on a RM2,000 bail with his parents as sureties pending a probation report. Maris fixed Jan 20 for the hearing of the report.

Mohd Azlan’s custodial sentence was ordered to take effect immediately.

Both accused were convicted under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

In the same court room, a man was slapped with a RM500 fine in default two months in jail after he pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous weapon in the form of a penknife last week.

Norerwan Adam, 25, pleaded guilty to possessing the 23-cm penknife found inside a sling bag when detained by the police. The cops were patrolling the area around 3.15pm on Nov 16 this year.

He was convicted under Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

Norerwan settled the fine.
