KUCHING: The Sarawak Bumiputera Tennis Association (PTBS) is planning to link up with their Indonesian counterpart in tennis development programme aimed at upgrading the overall standard of the game.

“We are looking forward to work together especially in tennis. One of the options which are still in discussion is finding coaches and sparring partners for our players from Sarawak and vice versa. Sarawak has very good tennis players and tennis development programme,” said Yusran, the president of the West Kalimantan – Pontianak Tennis Association (Pertenisipon KALBAR).

Yusran was in Kuching over the weekend with top tennis players from Pontianak on a reciprocal visit to PTBS.

“Players and officials of PTBS visited Pontianak last August. One of the main focuses of our visit is to strengthen ties between the two tennis associations from different countries.

“We look forward to send our players to PTBS for match exposures in Sarawak before they compete in tournaments in Indonesia,” informed Yusran.

“We were honoured to be here and to share the technical knowledge of tennis with our friends here in Sarawak. PTBS and our players played friendly matches at Wisma PTBS in Petra Jaya,” commented Yusran.

PTBS representative Nur Azman Gaong commented that the visit by the Indonesian tennis players is good for the development of the sport here in the state.

The Indonesian delegation also paid a visit to the Sarawak Lawn Bowling Association (SALBA).
