SIBU: Sibu League Naim Football Cup 2012 champion V8 FC are all set to take on dark horse Exodust FC in a potentially explosive Sibu FA Cup final at Stadium Tun Zaidi on Nov 24.
Sibu FA secretary Abdul Hajis said V8 FC held a slight advantage as the team are marshalled by mostly former Sibu division players.
“There may not be any big names in the team but the players are strong, determined and are very committed to lifting the title,” he said.
As for Exodust FC, Hajis said the team boasted of the service of former state player Gilbert Cassidy and some ex-Sibu players.
“Gilbert alone is not going to make any big difference and hopefully, the team will pose a serious challenge to their opponents,” he added.
En-route to the final, V8 swept aside Rimba Hijau 4-0 while Exodust demolished Cheetah FC 5-2 in the semi-finals held last weekend.
Kick-off is at 3.30pm. Lanang MP and Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King is expected to officiate at the closing ceremony at 6pm.
