YSHHB donates to various organisations

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) yesterday handed over numerous donations in the form of money and equipment assistance to several organisations and individuals at an event held at its office in the capital. On hand to present the donations was the Managing Director of YSHHB, Awg Hj Brahim bin Hj Ismail, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The first donation of US$4,000 was handed over to regional Islamic organisation MABIMS (Meeting of Religious Ministries of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore) which will be channelled to Muslim residents of Cambodia through the MABIMS Countries Humanitarian Aid Secretariat. The money will be used to aid in the shortage of amenities required for education, human resources and funding for religious books, missionaries, school buildings and Islamic worship places. On hand to receive the contribution was Awg Hj Abdul Manap bin Hj Adam, Special Duties Officer at the Public Relations Unit, Ministry of Religious Affairs, who was representing the Secretariat of MABIMS Brunei Darussalam.

Another donation of B$4,350 was handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for the production of the instructor’s handbook -What Are Drugs”. The contribution Was received by Dk Norqalbi Soffia binti Pengiran Hj Soffian, Chief Narcotics Officer, NCB.

YSHHB also handed over a donation of B$5,000 to sponsor a part of the funding needed by students of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) undertaking Brunei Islamic Law at the university’s Islamic Studies Academy to organise a Zakat or Tithe Exhibition this year. Receiving the contribution on behalf the Brunei Studies Academy, UBD was Datin Dr Hjh Saadiah binti Datu Derma Wijaya Hj Tamit, a Senior Lecturer at the academy.

In fostering the spirit of excellence among youths and in its endeavour to continuously assist voluntary organisation and bodies, YSHHB also contributed B$1,000 to the Belait District Ten Pin Bowling Association to sponsor, a part of funding for the organisation of the Belait Open Bowling Tournament 2012.

Donations totalling $6,500 were also made to seven families who were involved in house fire incidents, as a means to lessen their burden. The seven families were comprised of 25 family members. The respective representatives from each family were on hand to receive the donations.

YSHHB also handed over equipment for Muslim funeral rites to 18 mosques and suraus in the Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Temburong Districts. Present to receive the contributions were imams and bilals from the respective mosques and suraus.
