Chong Wei, Koo/Tan make final

KUALA LUMPUR: World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei and national top pair Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong reached the final of the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Top seeded Chong Wei defeated sixth seeded Kenichi Tago of Japan 21-19, 21-15 in the men’s singles semifinal yesterday.

The 30-year-old will meet the winner of the other semi-fina; match between Chen Long of China and Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia which will be held later yesterday.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Koo and Tan will face the winner of the match between China’s pairs Liu Xiaolong/Qiu Zihan and Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng in the final today.

The world number four pair earlier ousted Lee Sheng Mu and Tsai Chia Hsin of Taiwan 22-20, 21-13.— Bernama
