Lubok Antu Eco-Challenge on Dec 8

KUCHING: The highly anticipated Lubok Antu Eco-Challenge 2012 which offers a complete challenging package of running and cycling disciplines along a tough route in Lubok Antu, is now slated on Dec 8.

“The Lubok Antu Eco-Challenge offers a complete extreme sports package for its participants. The eagerly awaited event is a joint collaboration of Ministry of Social Development (KPS) and District Office of Lubok Antu.

“The event is held to promote Lubok Antu as an interesting and ideal eco-challenge venue and to encourage healthy living,” said a spokesman of the competition.

The race is divided into six categories namely Men’s and Women’s Open, Batang Ai Closed Men and Women, and Batang Ai Boys and Girls Challenge (Under-15).

Winners will receive interesting cash prizes and medals.

“For the Men’s Open, the race comprises 10km of running and 40km of cycling while the Women’s Open will cover 5km of running and 20km of cycling.

“In the Batang Ai Closed categories, the race will cover 5km of running and 20km of cycling for the Men’s event while the ladies is a 5km running distance followed by 10km of cycling.

“Participants of the Batang Ai Boys and Girls categories will only compete in a 5km run,” the spokesman informed.

The entry fees are RM30 for Men’s Open and RM20 for Women’s Open, RM10 for the Batang Ai categories while the boys and girls events are free of charge.

“Interested individuals can obtain entry forms at KPS, Level 3, Bangunan Baitul Makmur in Petra Jaya here and the Lubok Antu District Office.

“The closing date and registration will be held from 10am to 4pm at Lubok Antu Sports Complex on Dec 7.
