KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Post’s sister paper, Utusan Borneo, has inked another agreement with the Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB) to renew their contract for the publication of Utusan Sawit.

The two partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday to continue the issuance of the monthly supplement for its third consecutive year.

The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the MPOB’s National Seminar on Milling, Refining, Environment and Quality (POMREQ).

Utusan Borneo was represented by KTS Area General Operation Manager and See Hua Marketing director Ngu Ngiong Hieng while MPOB by its director-general, Datuk Dr Choo Yuen May.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry secretary-general Datin Paduka Nurmala Abdul Rahim witnessed the ceremony.

Utusan Sawit is an exclusive section published every third Friday of the month to discuss challenges, innovations and the latest development in the country’s palm oil industry.

Utusan Borneo is the only local daily in Sabah that is published fully in Bahasa Malaysia.

Apart from Utusan Borneo and The Borneo Post, KTS is also the mother company for the Chinese newspaper, See Hua Daily News.

In the previous MoU signing held in February, Dr Choo had said that Utusan Sawit was an important tool for disseminating the latest information and promoting understanding on the palm oil industry.

The target group for the publication, she said, included the main industry players and related sectors as well as the general public in Sabah and Sarawak, the two states where the news company operates.

Also present were secretary general to the Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry, Datin Paduka Nurmala Abdul Rahim and senior management staff of See Hua Marketing.
