UMNO: President’s message to be the focus at Umno general assembly 2012

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2012 Umno General Assembly began today with focus to be given to President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s message as part of the party’s preparations in leading Barisan Nasional (BN) to face the 13th general election.

Umno leadership are also expected to emphasize on issues of unity and preparedness of over three million members of Umno, besides to convince the people that Umno and its alliance in BN were the best choice that would bring the country to a secured and stable future.

A total of 2,759 delegates are attending assembly which is being held at the Merdeka Hall of the Putra World Trade Centre here.

Najib, in his message to the delegates yesterday, had emphasized on organisational discipline following BN’s dismal performance in the 2008 general election.

The opening of the assembly began with the arrival of Najib, who then inspected a guard of honour mounted by party members of the three wings of Umno – Wanita, Youth and Puteri – followed by the raising of Umno flag, the Sang Saka Bangsa, with Umno members singing the party’s anthem.

Apart from the president’s policy speech, the delegates will also debate the economy, religion and education motions. — Bernama
