KUCHING: A housewife was treated at the hospital for scald to her face caused by a hot bowl of instant noodles that she tipped on herself during a fainting spell at her house yesterday morning.

The 25-year-old had just finished cooking a packet of instant noodles for her husband’s breakfast and was about to serve it to him in their house in Kampung Gita when she suddenly fainted.

Her husband could only watch as the steaming bowl of noodles scalded her face. He immediately sent her to the Sarawak General Hospital around 9am.

The victim, who regained consciousness before arriving at the hospital, received outpatient treatment.

In an unrelated incident, a female shop assistant lost a few hundred ringgit in cash and a mobile phone when her handbag was snatched yesterday morning.

The victim, in her 20s, was walking from her rented house in Kenyalang Park to a nearby shopping mall when two men on a motorcycle grabbed her handbag as they rode past her from behind.

She was not injured in the 8.45am incident and immediately made her way to the nearby Simpang Tiga police station to lodge a report.
