Auxiliary Search and Rescue proposal in June 2013

BALIK PULAU: The report on the proposal to set up an auxiliary Search and Rescue will be presented to the cabinet by June 2013 the latest, said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung.

“The study is almost completed and will be presented to the cabinet after it’s approved by the Ministry,” he said, here yesterday.

He was speaking to reporters after opening the new RM9.04 million Balik Pulau Search and Rescue Station in Kampung Terang near here, which was completed in June 2010.

“They will not be permanent personnel but paid an allowance whenever they’re asked to help the regular Search and Rescue teams,” he added.

Also present were the Ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Arpah Abdul Razak and Penang Search and Rescue Department director Azmi Tamat. — Bernama
