GEORGE TOWN: The police have detained six men to facilitate investigations into the murder of a bistro owner, who was stabbed yesterday when he intervened in a fight between two groups, opposite his premises in Jalan Burma here.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 26, were picked up at separate areas here, a few hours after the brawl which occurred about 3pm.

Timur Laut police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng said today that the six were investigated for the murder of Keoh Thian Poh, 26.

He said efforts were underway to nab their accomplices who had gone into hiding.

“Our investigations, so far, have indicated that 10 people from two groups, namely ‘Gang 24’ and ‘Gang Peh’, were involved in the fight after partying at the victim’s bistro,” added Gan.

During the incident yesterday, Keoh tried to intervene when he was stabbed in the back. He died three hours after admission at a private hospital. — Bernama
