Syafiq ridhwan claims world title

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek rolled out an outstanding performance in the stepladder finals to claim the 48th Qubica AMF Bowling World Cup on Saturday.

At the competition which was held at the Sky Centre in Wroclaw, Poland, Syafiq defeated Kent Marshall from the United States with scores of 236-225 and 237-221.

The 26-year-old Syafiq had earlier outwitted Columbia’s Andres Gomez in the semifinals with scores of 234-236, 224-201 and 258-213 to earn a place in the final.

The national champion clinched a spot in the quarter-finals after finishing fifth with a 24-game total of 6,201 pin falls on Friday. — Bernama
