Company director charged with CBT involving rm4.5 mln

PETALING JAYA: A company director pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here yesterday to committing criminal breach of trust involving more than RM4.5 million six years ago.

Ismail Mohd Othman, 49, who was then a member of Megah Mahsuri Sdn Bhd’s board of directors, was alleged to have committed the offence at Malayan Banking Bhd, G01, West Tower, Ground Floor, Wisma Consplant 1, No.2, Jalan SS 16/4, 47500 Subang Jaya, on Feb 10, 2006.

The offence, under Section 409 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum imprisonment of 20 years, whipping and is also liable to fine, if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor Rozaliana Zakaria, who prosecuted, offered bail at RM400,000 with one surety.

Judge Yasmin Abdul Razak set bail at RM150,000 with one surety and also ordered Ismail to report himself at the nearest police station once a month and to surrender his passport to the court.

She set Jan 8 for mention.

Lawyers Abd Malik Mokhtar and Mohsin Abd Kader represented Ismail. — Bernama
