KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court yesterday fixed Dec 13 for mention of the case of three friends charged with kidnapping 12-year-old Dutch national Nayati Shamelin Moodliar in April.

High Court deputy registrar Noor Aini Yusof set the date when the case came up for case management to enable the prosecution to hand over documents relating to the case to the court.

Self-employed Chong Tat Siong, 23, handphone seller Foong Khar Fai, 19, unemployed Lee Phak Seng, 23, and another person, who is still at large, are charged with kidnapping the boy with intention to extort RM300,000 in ransom from his parents.

The offence was allegedly committed at Jalan Kiara 1, Mont Kiara, at 7.30am on April 27, 2012.

They face the death penalty or life imprisonment, as well as whipping, upon conviction under Section 3 of the Kidnapping

Nayati was released by his kidnappers at the Sungai Buloh rest and recreation area at 7.55am on May 3, a week after he was abducted outside Mont Kiara International School. — Bernama
