No compromise on drug-related activities: Sabah CP

TAWAU: Sabah commissioner of police, Datuk Hamza Taib said state police would not compromise on any activities related to drug abuse including trafficking and addiction.

“We will continue our vigilance at all entry points into the country, air, land and sea. A narcotics officer has also been stationed at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport to curb drug smuggling by air,” he said.

Hamza said in the first 11 months of this year, Sabah police nabbed about 11,000 individuals suspected of being involved in drug trafficking or addiction.

“Cooperation from the public in giving information is vital for us,” he told reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties between Tawau police chief ACP Ibrahim Chin and ACP Awang Besar Dullah here Wednesday.

He was commenting on the arrest of two Vietnam nationals who were allegedly found with 3.4kg of syabu at a hotel here on Dec 1, which were believed to have been smuggled in from a neighbouring country.– BERNAMA
