KUCHING: Two Indonesians were yesterday sentenced to four months’ imprisonment for stealing frozen food from their workplace last year.

Waldi Sanobi and Jamiat Samsudi both appeared before Magistrate Maris Agan who convicted them under Section 381 of the Penal Code.

The two men stole 15 pieces of frozen chicken and two packs of frozen beef with a total worth of around RM100 at Ayam Segar at Jalan Gambier at 3.45pm on Nov 30 last year.

According to facts of the case, their employer checked with the CCTV recording when he realised the theft and saw the two stealing the frozen food and hid them in their bedroom.

In an unrelated case, Magistrate Maris Agan sentenced 21-year-old Mike Micheal to a RM2,000 fine in default two months in jail for stealing five units of scaffolding screw jack at a construction site in Bintawa at 8.30pm on Dec 1.

A security guard caught him red handed with a gunny sack containing the stolen items.

He was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment or fine.
