BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Shell and Brunei will continue working closely in order to help the country meet its national goals, Borneo Bulletin reported.

This was yesterday said by Shell Upstream International Director Andy Brown, during a Gas Media Briefing webcast over the Internet while responding to a question posed by the Borneo Bulletin with regard to Shell’s growth strategy for Brunei.

Brown also highlighted the continuation of extensive exploration in oil and gas as being a part of their growth strategy in the Sultanate.

He said that he recently visited Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, and added that they had recently signed contracts for supply, particularly to Japan.

Brown went on to say that they plan to continue to explore “quite extensively.”

He also mentioned that Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) has a very active exploration programme, and that they too will continue to explore.

He added that they are going to keep LNG full with gas supplies from BSP, and that they are going to maintain their daily barrels production.

“Brunei and Shell will continue working very closely to achieve the country’s national goals,” said the Upstream International Director.

He was also asked what is planned for Shell Deepwater Borneo (SDB), to which he responded by highlighting the recent opening of SDB’s new office in the Sultanate.

With regard to their plans, he said they will continue in opening acreage that they have been able to secure in Brunei.

Yesterday’s webcast dealt with the increasingly important role that natural gas plays in Shell’s business strategy and planning, and was conducted to show how this will contribute to the delivery of their growth strategy.

It also saw the participation of Ben van Beurden, the Executive Vice President of Shell Chemicals.
