KUALA BELAIT: Supa Save Seria is back, bigger and better than ever, Borneo Bulletin reported.

After just over nine months of closing the old building that was Supa Save Seria’s first base, it has returned, now revamped and revitalised following a facelift that has created a truly standout shopping experience for customers in the Belait District.

It was truly a sight to see as the soft launch of the new outlet took place yesterday morning, with people lining up outside early, waiting to be let in.

Once the shutters leading to the supermarket were raised, shoppers rushed forward, eager to get a look at the goods on offer, pushing their trollies, carrying their baskets and guiding their children from aisle to aisle.

KY Lim, General Manager of Ben Foods Sdn Bhd, a member of the QAF group that operates the Supa Save brand of supermarkets, told the Sunday Bulletin that “This is a totally new store built from scratch.

“The previous building was very old and we got the lease for the land from the government and invested to construct this building,” he explained.

“We are basically trying to serve the local community better. So this is a new, modern building using modern concepts from around the region.”

Supa Save is known for offering a wide range of quality products and fresh produce, even more of which now line the shelves at its new store in Seria.

“Basically, we want to give shoppers more convenience, a better shopping experience, and in terms of products, we continue to carry a wide range of imported products as well as locally purchased products.

“New products are being sourced all the time. We go through very stringent import requirements to bring the new products in. Products that are good, we continue to import, while products that are not doing so well are of course stopped. We try new products all the time.”

He said that with this new store, they have introduced a number of new products and will continue to do so, highlighting that the emphasis of the Supa Save brand is ‘better quality, better value.’

“We pay for the quality we get, so we want to make sure that we provide good quality at a fair value for our customers,” he affirmed.

“The trust of the business is in fresh products, whether it’s in fresh produce, perishables or whether it’s in our groceries, we make sure that we offer fresh products to our customers.”

While a large array of different food products make up the majority of what is on offer, a lot of other everyday products such as utensils, toiletteries and even a selection of toys are available at the store.

More enthusiasm for the new store could not have been shown yesterday, as people thronged the new store to see what was on offer, with cars lining even the roads near the outlet as people rushed to have a look.

The customers themselves expressed satisfaction with what they found, and when asked for his thoughts on this, Mr Lim said, “We always stay very focussed on what the brand offers; its attributes. As I said: Better quality, better value and freshness.

“We stay very focussed on that, just remembering the fundamentals and key factors of the business, and staying loyal to them.”

Sending out a message to customers, the general manager said, “We want to thank the customers for their patronage over the years: Seria, Kuala Belait, the local community and Brunei Shell Petroleum particularly.

“We also thank them for their patience. We want to strive to serve them even better with this outlet, so we hope that the time they endured was worthwhile. We haven’t forgotten that we are here to serve the local community. That will be our motto, to strive to serve the local community better.”

There are a number of vacant store spaces within the building, with many holding ‘opening soon’ signs on their shutters, including one that shows the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, among others, to be setting up shop there.

Supa Save Seria is now open, so shoppers, get your trolleys.
