KUCHING: KTS Group of Companies will uphold its corporate social responsibility as it put into practice its 50th anniversary theme ‘We Care, We Grow’.

Its managing director Dato Henry Lau said the corporation would brave the challenges to not only keep up the good economic performance but pursue a role in preserving social harmony and stability.

Its car wash event in October raised RM1.1 million for Chinese independent schools statewide, he told a dinner commemorating KTS Group of Companies’ 50th anniversary at KTS Garden in Pending here Friday.

“We have brought in a cultural troupe of the People’s Government of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture to put up shows in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri. There was also a youth interchange programme for young people of China and Malaysia.

“For the KTS Youth Talent Discovery, we have received 150 entries and the selection process is ongoing. This project is meant to develop young Sarawakians.”

Lau pledged that KTS Group of Companies would continue to observe and honour integrity and reliability in conducting businesses.

He thanked business
partners, suppliers, clients, advertisers, subscribers, shareholders, board of directors, politicians and government officers who had helped shape the corporation.

Most of all, he attributed the achievements of KTS Group of Companies to the selfless commitment of his late father Dato Sri Lau Hui Kang.

“His total unselfish dedication to the company has laid the foundation for KTS’ success and growth.”

The late Lau, who founded the corporation in 1962, passed on in January 2006 at the age of 83.

“1981 was the year I started at KTS, and it has changed my life. KTS has come a long way to what it is today.

“We care about our employees so that they care about the company,” Henry said.

Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing was special guest at the dinner attended by over 200 guests including government officers, customers and staff.
