PAKAN: Many local Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) members are receiving membership cards issued by another political party (SWP) though they have not solicited for them.
SPDP Pakan Women chief Patimah Bllaka who is among those issued the SWP membership cards, wondered how and why such a thing happened.
“I have not resigned from SPDP so how can I apply to be a member of another party, which I never did?” she asked when revealing the matter to SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan and deputy secretary-general Paul Igai during a function at Rumah Ensibu, Sungai Berasok, Wak near here yesterday.
Patimah’s husband and son have also received the membership cards.
Believing that similar cards had been issued to other local SPDP members, she advised them to hand them to the party’s (SPDP) branch office for appropriate action.
Reacting on the matter, Paul Igai called on the party involved in the issuance of SWP membership cards to SPDP members to stop the act immediately.
“Pinching members is considered foul play in the Barisan Nasional (BN) spirit and it is strictly forbidden among its component parties. SPDP condemns such an act and would go all out to protect its integrity,” he stressed.
