JERANTUT: Two residents reported missing since last Tuesday while searching for iron ore in the Sungai Kerak jungle near Kampung Besul, managed to find their way out Saturday afternoon.

The duo, Mohamad Amin Sidek, 35, from Kampung Batu Embun and Mohd Radzi Mat Ali, 15, from Perumahan 410 Bandar Jerantut, who had lost their way in the jungle, arrived at Kuala Tembeling near the Taman Negar National Park at about 4.30pm.

“During their four-day ordeal in the jungle, the duo survived by drinking water and eating leaves from various types of trees,” said Jerantut police chief Supt Azid Ismail when contacted by Bernama yesterday.

He said the two men were part of a six-member group that went into the jungle to look for iron ore.

“However, the duo went missing after the group had split in separate directions,” he said.

Azid also urged residents who wished to go into the jungle to inform the police of their intention and destination to avoid any mishap.

He also warned residents against entering the forest reserve which is a restricted area. — Bernama
