KOTA KINABALU: A businessman lost about RM120,000 in cash and valuables when his double-storey semi-detached house at Taman Cantek, Penampang near here, was burgled on Monday.

It is believed that the robbers had entered the house through the kitchen door by breaking and forcing open the kitchen grill and door.

Once inside, the burglars made their way to the master bedroom and stole a metal safety box which is believed to contain about RM70,000 cash, RM6,000 foreign currencies, jewelries and documents, between 2pm and 6pm on December 10.

The owner and his family members were out during the break-in.

A police report was lodged by the house owner, in his 50, after returning home around 7pm the same day.

A team of forensic police were at the scene to carry out investigation.

Meanwhile, city police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said the police were still carrying out investigation into the case.

“Initial police investigation believed that there were more than one person involved in the burglary and a manhunt has been carried out to trace the suspects,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
