Fruit Festival In Temburong

TEMBURONG: The Temburong District Mukim and Village Consultative Councils Institution, in collaboration with the Temburong District Office and the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, organised a Fruit Festival and a ‘One Village, One Product’ Sale 2012 for the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils of the district at the foyer of the Pekan Bangar Bumiputera Complex, Temburong, Borneo Bulletin reported.

Present as guest of honour to officiate the event was the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman.

“The purpose of this festival is to emphasise on the blessings and bounties given by Allah SubahanaWaTa’ala, as well as to appreciate the benefits of the fruit harvests that come every year,” stated Awg Hj Bahrun bin Hj Talib, the Penghulu of Mukim Amoas in his capacity as Chairman of the Fruit Festival and representative of the Mukim Penghulus and Village Heads.

Awg Hj Bahrun added that the festival gives opportunities for the active fruit sellers in the district to run their business for a week without having to pay any fees. He also added that the fruit festival is organised with the initiative of the Temburong District Office to promote and to set forth the fruits of the land in the Temburong District as well as the village products under the ‘One Village, One Product’ Sale Sale 2012 for the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils of the Temburong District.

In addition to the event, an exhibition and sale of fruit tree seeds, as well as surveys on the public opinions on local fruits in Brunei Darussalam, were also carried out.
