BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Youth Development Centre through its Self-Development Programme yesterday organised the Bukit Marakucing and Sarubing hiking challenge for participants of its short-term training programme. Sixty-one trainees participated in the event, Borneo Bulletin reported.
The challenge aimed to build self-esteem, discipline and strength of the participants in order to become Pro-active youths. The event also sought to instil the sporting spirit among trainees at the centre, as well as to foster closer relationships between the trainees and staff The guest of honour at the event who also presented the prizes to the winners was Legislative Council member YB Awg Hj Ghafor @ Hj Md Daud bin Karim, who is also the Village Head of Kampong Belimbing, Subok.
The challenge was divided into two categories for male and female participants.
The winner of the male category was Zulkiflee bin Tahir, while Mohammad Fadhil bin Zulkefli and Mohammad Farhan Zulkefli came in second and third places, respectively.
In the female category, first place went to Dyg Norkhairunisa binti Awg Mohammad while the second and third places went to jalina binti Sadikir and Rosnani binti Abdul Mujib.
