KUCHING: The Petra Jaya Hitmenten Club (KHPJ) is ready to organise a hitmenten tournament as one of the events for a major sports event like World Airlines Tournament.

Its president Abdul Rahman Hassan, who is the inventor of hitmenten, is supporting a recent call by MASwings chief executive officer Datuk Capt Mohd Nawawi Awang to MAS Sports and Recreation Club (MRSC) Kuching to organise bigger events.

Rahman has written to MRSC Kuching president Jimmy Ridzuan and offered hitmenten as one of the events for consideration.

“Being a new sport, it has to be promoted and accepted locally before going further beyond. For a start, I wish to propose that MSRC organise a tournament at BIMP-EAGA level in 2013 in conjunction with Visit Sarawak Year,” he said in a press
statement.

Rahman said KHPJ is eager to extend its fullest cooperation to MSRC in organising the tournament and conducting training for its members.

“We are glad to inform that KHPJ is conducting HITMEN10 Coaching Session commencing Jan 13 next year and we are hoping that many MSRC members as well as their families or friends would participate.”

“This will provide more insight to Hitmenten and provide avenues for them to acquire the playing skills so that they are able to promote the sport in other BIMP-EAGA cities,” he said.

He added that the club would also promote the coaching sessions through the media and displaying banners at strategic spots.
