SIP strengthens RBAF, MAF ties

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) hosted the annual Senior Officers’ Interaction Programme (SIP) with the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in a goodwill sports event, according to a Ministry of Defence press release, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The MAF delegation led by the Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces General Dato Paduka Seri Tan Sri Dato Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zain accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Datin Sri Umi KaIsom bte Awang, attended the three-day programme.

During the main event, MAP senior officers took part in a friendly golf tournament with the RBAF representatives at The Empire Hotel and Country Club, Jerudong.

Welcoming the Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces was the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

Meanwhile, the welfare body of the wives of both armed forces, BAKTI RBAF and BAKAT MAP competed in a bowling tournament held at the MegaStrike Bowl, Airport Mall.

Welcoming the Malaysian delegation was Datin Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah, wife of the RBAF Commander. Apart from the bowling tournament, a cooking competition was also held at the Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.

The sports event conducted annually and hosted alternately between both Armed Forces served to strengthen the long-standing relationship. It was also aimed at enhancing cooperation and socio-cultural interaction amongst the military officers.
