KUCHING: The Kuching WTF Taekwondo and Self Defence (Satok Training Centre) had a good outing last week when the club’s five member team brought home two gold and two silver medals at the second edition of the 2012 TM-NSC-Milo Inter-club Taekwondo Championship.

Held in Ipoh, Perak last weekend, the competition sees clubs from all over the country competing for top honours. The Satok Training Centre is one of the state’s representatives in the competition.

Apart from winning the medals, the team have also emerged overall first runner-up in the senior female category for this year’s competition.

Satok Training Centre chairman, Tan Check Joon was very impressed with his team’s overall achievement. He hopes that the exponents will continue their good performance in other competitions as well.

“My young exponents had displayed some moments of true grit during the competition. I am glad that all their hard work paid off,” he said.

Shirley Kua and Marena Tee contributed the gold medals for the team while the silver medals were contributed by Dayang Farhanah and Marlisa Tee.

For the record, Kua and Tee are champions of the third edition of the National (Sparring) Championship held in Kuala Lumpur last month.
