KOTA BAHARU: Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat yesterday reiterated his stand to contest in the coming 13th general election despite his state of health being questioned.

He said to contest in the elections, it was not necessary for a candidate to be physically healthy but suffice to have a good mind.

“InsyaAllah (God willing)…whatever that Umno does not like, I will do. A political contest does not require one to have a healthy body but a healthy mind.

“A (political) contest does not require you to fist fight. If it’s fist fighting, I am sorry…,” said Nik Aziz, 82, who had received heart treatment before.

Asked about his statement before which suggested that he wanted to retire from politics, Nik Aziz said it would only apply if Umno accepted Islamic policy as the basis of its struggle. — Bernama
